Ruth grew up surrounded by music, and began her musical studies at the age of 6 in a group keyboard class setting. She fell in love with the piano and has been inseparable from it ever since. District music competitions and graded exams were a big part of Ruth's musical education, and she gained ATCL (Trinity Guildhall) in 2013.

Ruth began her studies at the University of Auckland in 2014, and has completed a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Piano Performance. While at university she discovered a particular passion for historical performance practice and early keyboard performance as well as her original love for piano.

Ruth has now taught piano and theory for five years, and loves helping others explore the exciting world of music. She teaches lessons with practical piano, theory, aural and sightreading components combined to create a comprehensive and enjoyable musical education.
​
Ruth believes that sitting music exams can be a wonderful way to set goals and measure progress, and offers tuition for Grades 1-8+ (ABRSM & Trinity Guildhall), and theory Grades 1-5 (ABRSM). However, exams are not compulsory and playing purely for personal enjoyment is both encouraged and strongly recommended!
